Saving Money Tips

  • If you’re a CA resident (ZIP 90000-96199) interested in an AP, use the 0% int. monthly payment option! Spreading out the cost over the course of the year is the ONLY way we can afford them. An initial down payment is expected at the time of a FIRST time purchase (down payment doesn’t apply when renewing, monthly payment goes up a few $ instead), but it is much more doable, when compared to the entire pass price. Ask for AP down payment for bday, Christmas, etc
  • Pack fruit/veggies/snacks in a lunch box (only 6-pack size coolers permitted inside the parks). Food at the parks is tasty but expensive, so packing some in-between snacks will help ease the strain on your wallet
  • Bring reusable water bottles to refill at drinking fountains or filtered water stations (see #mkmfilteredwateratdisney on instagram). Water bottles in the park can run you up to $4. All quick-service restaurants will give you free ice water in a cup
  • Share meals with your kids! Toddler & kiddo meals are also available for less
  • For a quick anytime snack, stop at Starbucks on Main Street, Buena Vista Street in DCA or Downtown Disney & order breakfast sandwiches. They’re portable, filling, our kids love them & they are comparatively cheap. 10-20% discount for APs (depending on the pass)
  • Avoid shops! As fun as it is to peruse the souvenirs all over the parks, be prepared for the “I want everything!” battle. OR set a budget for souvenirs – let kiddos pick ONE item under a certain dollar amount
  • Purchase Disney tees & princesses dresses ahead of time at Target, etc!
  • Multi-day, park hopper tickets (one park per day) will save you $! Military discounts on tickets are also available & remember, kids under 3 are ALWAYS free
  • Staying at a Good Neighbor Hotel is much cheaper than staying at one of the 3 Disney hotels, but still apply towards park-hopper packages! Our favorite GOod Neighbor Hotels are Fairfield Inn by Marriott, Howard Johnson Hotel & the Grand Legacy at the Park. All three of these are located on S. Harbor Blvd. RIGHT across the street from the east side security checkpoint just before the main gates to the parks. Super convenient & each hotel is very nice! Aside from these 3 hotels, all of the Good Neighbor Hotels have their perks, so be sure to check whether they’re offering any specials!
  • And lastly, for a sweet treat, our FIVE treats under FIVE DOLLARS are the Matterhorn Macaroon at Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe for $2.99 (pictured below), Churros (DUH!) for $4.25, Dole Whip from the Tiki Juice Bar in Adventureland for $4.19, Chocolate Covered Pineapple for $4.29 from Candy Palace on Main Street, Pooh Corner in Critter Country, Trolley Treats on Buena Vista Street in DCA & Marceline’s Confectionery in Downtown Disney & three Mickey-shaped Beignets for $4.49 from the Mint Julep Bar or Cafe Orleans in New Orleans Square!
