Courtyard Anaheim Theme Park Entrance

We recently had the privilege of staying at one of Disneyland’s Good Neighbor Hotels, the Courtyard Anaheim Theme Park Entrance. This beautiful hotel is located right across the street from the Disneyland Resort on South Harbor Blvd. One of the many benefits to staying at the Anaheim Courtyard is the short walk 5-10 minute walk to the parks (closer to the parks than the Disneyland Hotel is)!

The Anaheim Courtyard is the PERFECT hotel for families with young kids. Each room can sleep up to six guests and includes two queen beds or 1 king, and a bunk bed, a breakfast nook and TWO showers – a tub/shower combo and an additional shower – this makes getting everyone ready and out the door for your Disneyland day SO much faster and stress-free. Every room also has a refrigerator, microwave, Keurig coffee maker, a TV equipped with Netflix streaming, and you can request a nice, clean pack ‘n play from the front desk if you need it. The rooms are extremely clean and well kept – it’s like being at a spa!

One of our favorite things about the this hotel are the views from some of the rooms! If you’re staying in a room with a view of the theme park or the water park (facing the parks), you’ll get a dose of Disney magic when you look out your window and see the Matterhorn, Space Mountain and the Monorail! Check out some photos below of our room and view.

Golden hour from our Hotel window – isn’t this just beautiful?!

We took SO many photos of this scene – ha!

Walking from the Hotel to Disneyland Resort

As we mentioned above, the walk from the Anaheim Courtyard to the east side Disneyland Resort security checkpoint is just about 5-10 minutes. We timed the walk a few times during our stay and it took us 5-7 minutes each time. The walk takes you along Harbor Blvd (past McDonald’s and iHop) where you’ll eventually turn right in front of the Tropicana Inn & Suites, where you see the “Disneyland Resort” sign (photo below).

We felt way less stressed out walking the short distance from the hotel to the main gates than when we walk from the Mickey and Friends structure to the parks – ha!

Parking

The hotel only offers Valet parking for $20.00 (for hotel guests). We loved being able to just drop our cars at the front and unload all of our things! If you arrive before check-in (at 4:00 PM), you can leave your bags and head to the parks, then return when you’re ready to check-in.

IMPORTANT FOR THOSE VISITING THE THEME PARK: Non-hotel guests, can drop their car at the Anaheim Courtyard valet for $25 ($5 more than Disneyland theme park parking) and walk to the main gates – saves time taking trams and walking from the Disneyland parking lots, which are located further away from Disneyland than the Anaheim Courtyard parking.

The sign you’ll want to look for to head to the east side of the park’s security checkpoint!

Purchase Tickets at the Hotel

If you’re staying at the Anaheim Courtyard, you can purchase your tickets right in the hotel lobby – saves time waiting in long ticket booth lines at the parks!

The Hotel Bistro

The Hotel’s Bistro offers a wide variety of yummy and healthy eats for breakfast (including a full Starbucks menu!), lunch and dinner (there’s even a bar!). We enjoyed lunch at the Bistro both days of our stay – all of our meals were delicious!

You can choose to eat your meal at the tables located on the terrace (just outside the Bistro), at the tables inside or just ask for your meal to be packaged up to enjoy at the water park or in your room.

BONUS – A few of the booth tables located inside have TV’s attached for you or your kiddos – how amazing is that?! We are all for letting the kids watch a little TV if it means we enjoy a meal in peace and quiet!

The beautiful Bistro!

Had to snap a photo of the tile at the Bistro because it was amazing.

If you’re looking for snacks or toiletry type items, head down to this little nook called “The Market,” located by the check-in/out desks – any of these goodies can be purchased at check-in/out 24/7.

Surfside Water Park at the Anaheim Courtyard

The highlight of our kids’ stay at the Anaheim Courtyard was the amazing Surfside Water Park! We spent a few hours at this magical little place both days of our stay and wow, it was SO fun.

The pool and spa are open daily from 9:00 AM-10:00 PM and the waterslides are open from 10:00 AM-9:00 PM, so this gives guests going to the Disneyland Resort plenty of time to sneak in a little water play during the day! On warm days, we suggest heading to Disneyland in the morning to enjoy the cooler temperatures, then head back to the hotel for naps or a little water play time when it gets to hot. Once the weather cools down, you can freshen up at the hotel and head back to the parks in the early evening!

A wristband is required to enjoy the pool/spa/slides, so be sure to have one on at all times when you’re at the Surfside Water Park. You can pick up extra wristbands at the front desk if your kids are like ours and want theirs off as soon as you’re done at the pool – ha!

If you happen to forget swim diapers, sunscreen, etc., the hotel gift shop has all of your pool necessities.

Can you see Space Mountain the distance?! Love it!

Fireworks Viewing at the Hotel

Being able to enjoy fireworks right from the comfort of your hotel room is a total win! The Anaheim Courtyard has rooms facing Disneyland which means on the evenings that fireworks happen (typically every night during Summer and holidays and then on Friday, Saturday and Sunday during slower season), you can sit and enjoy the show from your hotel window or balcony! You can also head down to the pool deck to watch. The music from the show can’t be heard super loudly, but you can definitely hear it. Tinker Bell can even be seen flying from the Matterhorn over the castle during “Remember…Dreams Come True” fireworks!

FullSizeRender.jpg-39FullSizeRender.jpg-31

See that shiny green light by the Matterhorn?! That’s Tinker Bell! You can see her much more clearly if you’re watching from the hotel, we just tried to zoom in to get a photo of her!

FullSizeRender.jpg-35

Once again, you can see Tinker Bell flying over the castle.

Fantasmic!

Before fireworks started at 9:30 PM, we could see the 9:00 PM showing of Fantasmic! from our hotel room! Fantasmic! has some pyrotechnics and mini fireworks during the show, especially toward the end when Sorcerer Mickey shows off his magical powers, so when the finale of the show happens, you’ll really be able to see some of the fun. We actually could even hear some of the music, too! Fantasmic! typically happens every night during busy season (Summer and holidays) and on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during slow season. You can check Disneyland’s calendar up to 6 weeks before your visit to find out if the show will be happening while you’re at the parks or at the Anaheim Courtyard.

Check out a few photos we snapped of the show below.

Restaurants Near the Anaheim Courtyard

The Anaheim Courtyard has the Bistro on site, which is super convenient, but the hotel is also surrounded by a few other great places to eat! Located in the same parking lot as the hotel is Mimi’s Cafe, which we love for breakfast! Right next door to the hotel is Panera Bread, which stays open until midnight and next to Panera is McDonald’s (our kids are always down for a Happy Meal!). More dining options just down the way from the hotel (closer to the parks) include Jimboy’s Tacos, Denny’s, IHOP, the Pizza Press and restaurants at the Anaheim Garden Walk.

Of course, as mentioned above, walking to the parks takes just about 5-10 minutes, which means you can also get to Downtown Disney very quickly to enjoy a variety of restaurant options. We walked from the hotel to Downtown Disney just to get Sprinkles Cupcakes – worth it!

The kids watching the Monorail while waiting for our table at Mimi’s – love!

           The Fitness Center

The hotel has an amazing Fitness Center located right next to the water park. The treadmills have TV’s attached which makes working out so much better in our opinion – ha!

The Hotel Gift Shop

The hotel gift shop is SO amazing! Even if you’re not a hotel guest, it’s worth checking out all the goodies because there are Disney treasures we have never seen before! There were a ton of really cute and unique souvenirs that you can’t find at the parks. If you’re planning a trip to the Happiest Place on Earth and happen to forget your Disney gear, not to worry – just head into the gift shop and you’re SET!

Check out some photos below of some of the items we found.

We had to share these because we are ALL about stroller fans for the parks! These are a great option for those warms days!

We hope you enjoyed reading this review of the Anaheim Courtyard! We highly, highly recommend this hotel for your next Disneyland family vacation – we think you’ll have as much fun as much as we did!

  1. I’m planning a Disneyland trip in January and wondering if the pool and/or water park will be closed during winter season? I’m assuming yes but figured I’d ask anyway!

    1. We were there in January of this year and the water park was open. The slides and pool were heated but the kids splash park was definitely not! We had decent weather when we were there and are from Canada so everything still felt warm to us!
